Musings of a Catholic
Do what ever He tells you (Jn 2:5)
About Me
I returned to the Catholic Church in 2006, after having been away for over 35 years. When I left the Church I stopped attending church of any kind. Fifteen years later I returned to Christ, but not to the Catholic Church. I became an Evangelical Christian. Over the years I grew closer and closer to Christ. I taught an adult Sunday school class where we worked our way through the bible on a seven year cycle. My study led me to read church history and books on theology. The more I read the more I wanted to know about the early church. Soon I read the early church fathers. What I read in the Fathers showed me that Evangelicals did not have “it” right. I soon figured out the Catholic Church was the one that had it correct. I started reading the Catechism, works by several apologists and then attended a couple of sessions of a “Catholics Returning Home” program put on by the parish in which I reside. I made a general confession and have never looked back.
As I continued to study and pray I learned about the Marian Catechist Apostolate. This is an apostolate for individuals interested in helping others grow in the faith and in their own spiritual growth. Since I am retired my wife and I spend a good part of the year traveling in our fifth-wheel, so teaching the faith to others in a classroom setting is not feasible. Therefore I decided to use the teaching and course development talents the Lord has given me to develop a web site to provide courses to help Catholics learn more about their Faith.
I am not a theologian, but I have spent the majority of my adult life teaching and developing educational programs in both business and educational settings. My strength lies in being able to take what others have written and synthesize it so that the average person can understand it. I pray that this site aids Catholics looking to grow in the Faith.
